Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s 9th Annual

Macrocyclics & Constrained Peptides

Towards Cell-Penetrating, Soluble, Middle-Sized Molecules for Oral-Based Medicines

May 18-19, 2021

This conference highlights and questions the promise of synthetic macrocyclic organic compounds as a way to expand therapeutic chemical space while also broadening the types of ‘druggable’ targets. Macrocyclics or constrained peptides have more potential to inhibit flatter surfaces of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) than do smaller molecules which are better suited for ‘traditional drug targets’ such as catalytic sites of enzymes whose ‘pockets or grooves’ fit small molecules nicely. However, it has been a challenge to design macrocyclics with the small molecule advantage of oral bioavailability and ability to reach intracellular targets. Join medicinal chemistry colleagues for Cambridge Healthtech Institute's 9th Annual Macrocyclics & Constrained Peptides conference to learn various approaches and hear about progress being made in designing or discovering macrocyclic inhibitors and optimizing them to be soluble and cell-permeable.

Coverage will likely include:

  • Recently discovered or 'in development' macrocyclics with drug-like properties against intracellular ‘difficult-to-drug' targets such as PPIs
  • Macrocyclics for infectious diseases including COVID
  • Rational-based design strategies for making ‘druggable’ macrocyclics
  • Applying AI or machine learning towards macrocyclic drug design
  • Defining chemical properties of ‘successful’ macrocyclic drugs
  • Grafting cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) onto macrocyclics
  • Library approaches for aiding macrocyclic-based drug discovery

If you would like to submit a proposal to give a presentation at this meeting, please click here.

The deadline for priority consideration is December 18, 2020.

All proposals are subject to review by session chairpersons and/or the Scientific Advisory Committee to ensure the overall quality of the conference program. Additionally, as per Cambridge Healthtech Institute policy, a select number of vendors and consultants who provide products and services will be offered opportunities for podium presentation slots based on a variety of Corporate Sponsorships.

We hope you can join us for this and the three concurrent day-and-a-half conferences during the first half of our 16th Annual Drug Discovery Chemistry event. Joining this virtual community in real-time allows you to ask questions of the speakers and engage with colleagues. Plus, you can return later to view the concurrent presentations and Q&A panels that you missed, via On-Demand access.
