Record Attendance for Drug Discovery Chemistry 2014
500 participants from more than 20 countries gathered in beautiful San Diego for Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s Ninth Annual Drug Discovery Chemistry conference. 30% of attendees were from the pharmaceutical industry, 39% from biotech, and 22% from academia. 25% were titled as executive or director and 42% as scientist or technologist.
The opening day was highlighted by a full house for the plenary keynote address by Dr. Jim Wells, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Cellular & Molecular Pharmacology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Wells discussed drug discovery for challenging targets, with a particular focus on protein-protein interfaces and novel allosteric sites.
Breakout discussions were once again incredibly popular as attendees took advantage of opportunities to network, collaborate and problem solve with experts in particular research areas. Participants were excited to meet potential collaborators, share examples from their work, vet ideas with peers, and be part of group problem-solving endeavors.
In addition to record attendance, this year’s event also featured a record number of poster presentations as more than 70 posters were displayed in the exhibit area. For a list of poster titles, please click here.
